A young artist moves from Tbilisi to New York. There, he meets another Georgian like himself, and their adventures in an unfamiliar city begin.

Bill Urquhart, a young wastrel disinherited by his father, tries to get a job as a jockey – just about the only thing he’s really good at. His name and position work against him, however, so he adopts an alias and prevails upon the charity of a drunken friend Charles Barrington, through whom he meets Stella Barrington - who has not only inherited her father’s racing stables but also his debts. Still incognito, he takes on the job of stable lad for Stella but little does she realise that he could be the man to finally put an end to her money worries forever.

Adapted from the novel by Elizabeth Craik it tells the story of John Halifax who, despite humble beginnings, becomes a highly respected local businessman. As partner in a mill he weathers the turbulent economic times of the early 1800s.

When a reporter is killed under mysterious circumstances, the political cartoonist on his paper begins to investigate on his own. He finds that a vengeful industrialist may be trying to manipulate an international peace conference to stage a bombing attack on London.

A married couple are mistaken for jewel thieves and forced to go to a party. The husband turns on the burglar alarm by mistake and the real thieves are captured.

A comedy of mistaken identities aboard a cruise ship, in which several people are thrown together by the matrimonial magazine Get Together: Dick Holmes, a reporter looking for a story good enough to save his job; Betty Foster, hoping to investigate the man interested in marrying her aunt Emily; and Horace Godwin, the magazine's editor, who is trying to avoid becoming engaged to Penelope Hackworth-Pratt.

A brass band goes to London to take part in a competition.
