Tatyana Viktorovna Gizatullina is an English teacher from the city of Bugulma, where everything seems to be forever stuck between the past and the future. After a series of failures, she desperately turns to space with a request for a miracle - and suddenly the news spreads around the city: the first Bugulma cosmonaut Sergey Lysov, her classmate, is returning home after 25 years. This event sets off a chain of incredible changes in the life of Tatyana and the entire school.

Leo and Tig set off on a journey to faraway Lake Baikal to bring back home the lost seal pup named Lufi. Along the way, they make new friends with Zhu, a red panda, and Wukong the Monkey King. They also cross paths with the evil chieftain of a horse herd Tengri-Khan, who wants to seize the seal. Post-WWII Russia, industrial city of Sverdlovsk. Former opera singer and mother to four children, Nina Levitskaya knows nothing about the fate of her husband.
