A widow, Rohani slogs as a paddy farmer and rubber tapper to raise her two children, Jamal and Jamil. Jamal goes to Australia while Jamil to Kuala Lumpur to pursue his study. After completing his studies, Jamal returns home and in love with Rozi, Kudin’s daughter. Rohani visits Jamal who now lives in Kuala Lumpur and Jamal brings his mother to Rozi’s home. There, she meets Kudin and an argument ensues, Kudin accuses Rohani of being a whore. This causes Jamal to hate his mother and he leaves the house. As tension between them builds up, Rahani takes ill.

This film exposes the weaknesses found in the high-society consisting of the minister, architects and lawyers. Each has different tastes and desires. As an influential person, the minister used his position to compromise the weak girl. The young lawyer was questioning the good name and status after the girl was betrothed with a tarnished. The young architect ignore Malay art elements. The film also presents a question of love in a family.

This film is a heavy drama about the downfall of moral values of a family when proper religion teaching is not being instilled in them since they were small. Having a very good career and being respected by others around you wont determine that you will get the same kind of treatment with your own flesh and blood. As a teacher Mr. Talib is the best there could ever be but as to bringing up his own kids he is clearly a failure. Apart from the troubles he has faced at home with his family he is also waiting for death.
