Yet, it comes with a warning: Never reply if the dead soul says, "I want to see you." Because she blames herself for her brother's death and will do anything to tell him how sorry she is, Yuri downloads the app and reaches out to her dead brother. Meanwhile, the app's users begin to die.

We Were There follows the 10 year romance between Motoharu Yano & Nanami Takahashi. During their high school days, Motoharu Yano was the most popular boy in school, but can't get over the death of his girlfriend from a car crash. Nanami Takahashi falls in love with Motoharu Yano and must deal with his inability to let go of the past.

During the 2nd year of high school in the winter season, Yano transferred from Kushiro to Tokyo due to a family matter. Yano and Nanami promised to meet again. A couple of years later, Nanami is busy finding a job, while Yano's friend Takeuchi supports her. in the beginning, Yano and Nanami kept their relationship, even with the long distance between them, but Yano suddenly stops contacting Nanami.

Midorikawa Ran, at the age of 24, has made her fortune off of the financial market and has since retired. She spends her days online in chat rooms and gaming, while her younger sister Hikaru, aka Pandora, takes care of the household duties. Ran is comfortable with her situation but Hikaru realizes that they can't continue their lifestyle like this and decides to work at a maid café. As the overprotective sister, Ran becomes worried and joins Hikaru at the maid café on a daily basis.
