18-year olds Mikan and Maya spend their monotonous summer days working at an exotic fish store in the quiet suburbs of Tokyo, until one day an opportunity of a lifetime presents itself in the form of a rare fish. This tale chronicles the adolescent pains of friendship, hope, and what it means to believe.

High school senior Mio Segawa becomes pregnant with her boyfriend, Nagisa. Unable to confess her pregnancy to Nagisa or her family, Mio confides in her best friend, Natsumi. Despite facing various challenges, Mio decides to express the feelings she had never put into words and heads toward Nagisa. Set in the UNESCO World Heritage city of Kumano, this story delicately depicts the past and future of those living in this town, showcasing the emotional connection between a young couple.

A multitude of guests visit the same cheap Tokyo apartment at different times, unaware of the gruesome creature waiting for them.

Contemplative and almost without dialogues, the film shows the routine of inhabitants in a city: a young woman who lives alone; an eldery that lives in the street, next to the river; a police officer; customers in a bar; two students. Little by little, through flashbacks, the plot connects these characters.

While driving home from her day, a young woman witnesses another woman lying in the street covered in a strange goo and warning of a threat from space before she passes. Relaying the information to the authorities, she learns of the real nature of the incident and how several other strange disappearances around the city are related to the events she reported. Talking to her friend about the situation, he begins looking into the reported cases of women disappearing only to himself disappear during the ensuing investigation. Turning to her sister to help process the situation, they find themselves the target of strange alien-like amoebas looking to abduct human women in order to procreate with them and must team up with the Defense Ministry investigating the events in order to stop the creatures from taking over the Earth.

Saki receives a sudden phone call from a pay phone. The call is from her father who lives far away. Eventually, they reunite and exchange their feelings, both in a clumsy way. This is a story about one ordinary night for a pair of ordinary father and daughter.
