Jax was born in Ballwin, Missouri and has a BFA in acting from the Theatre School at DePaul University. Most of Jax's career has taken place in the theater. After a hiatus from acting in 2011-2012, Jax returned to the stage to become the first openly transgender performer at The Goodman Theatre in Chicago.
