Max loves a charming girl to distraction, but her father declares that his daughter shall never marry anyone but a musician. Max tries his hand at all kinds of instruments, only to fail lamentably. Eventually, he bluffs the professor by using a mechanical instrument, only to have his clever trick discovered on the evening of his betrothal.

Charles Prince is anxious to meet with Andree Pascal, the pretty and charming woman who works at an office. He speaks with her on the phone, but she passes the call to plump Gabrielle Lange.

Rigadin becomes a wine taster in two different scenarios, In both of these he spits wine at the people around him and eventually forgets not to swallow. He gets drunk and causes mayhem.

Worn down by the hectoring behaviour of his mother-in-law, Rigadin finally flips. He gives her a sound whipping, threatens her with a gun and finally sends her packing in an animal cage.

After visiting the first Cubist exposition in Paris, Rigadin (Charles Prince) is struck by his discovery: A egg is a rhombus, the earth a cube! Unfortunately, he is engaged to Miss Rondebosse (Gabrielle Lange), whose father is head of the Tradition...

Charles Prince is an inept butler, so he is fired. He goes and gets a job at a restaurant, where he discovers his former employer in a tryst with a young woman who's clearly prepared to be no better than she is, and snatches a love letter from the boss to the girl. He uses this to reinsert himself into his former home, where he drinks the master's wine, smokes the master's cigars, and insults the master's cook.

Rigadin acquires a love powder from a gypsy but it is not consumed by his intended target.
