A group of 20-something creatives attempt to survive the UK advertising industry as their artistic aspirations slip further and further away.

When Ruth's son Jamie discovers his father has left the family farm to his brother Sam, he is enraged. Jamie has worked on the farm for twenty years, and to him this is the very worst kind of betrayal. In the middle of the night, a shotgun in hand, Jamie drags his daughter across to his parents' house to confront them. It falls to Ruth to talk herself and her family out of a life-threatening hostage situation in which one false move could cost her everything.

Pregnant again, Hannah is back with Tom, now working on the bins, and they are shortly to marry, with Derek giving the bride away. Derek himself spends the night in the home's caravan with girlfriend Tracey though it is unclear whether they did anything except sleep. Days before the wedding Hannah gets so annoyed with Kev that she throws him out and he is next discovered in hospital, suffering from alcohol poisoning. However, at Derek's request, she lets him back in on condition he gives up the drink and allows him to give her away at the wedding instead of Derek. Despite a bizarre speech from Kev the day goes well and some months later Hannah gives Derek her new-born baby to hold.

Debra is on her honeymoon with Paul, but Paul is missing and Debra lies to everyone she meets as to where Paul is. Sharon and Lauren are on a shop till you drop trip and Sharon meets Dennis, an older man who seems to be interested in her.
