Yukiko, a 29-year-old elementary school teacher in Tokyo, struggles with student communication and personal insecurities. Overlooked in the “Favorite Teacher Ranking” and uneasy about her boyfriend’s marriage hints, she finds solace in hip-hop. Yet, in her first rap battle, she is completely overwhelmed by her opponent. This story follows Yukiko’s journey to discover the meaning of living authentically.

The film centres on Taro, an aimless indie filmmaker who gets convinced by Yuki, his girlfriend and financial sponsor, to attend a film festival in Beppu. There he meets the bubbly drifter actress Miki. Part travelogue, part self-reflexive comedy, the dynamic that follows this encounter delivers an ironic and realistic spin on Before Sunrise (1995), depicting two souls wandering around in search of life’s meaning.

In the midst of a fight, the young head of the Yakuza and his right-hand man get transported back in time to the end of the Edo period due to the powers of a mysterious child.

Daiki, who works part-time as a bartender at joshidaikoji (meaning Women's college alley), discovers a junior high school student in cardiopulmonary arrest in a park while wearing a cosplay costume. Since it was three days after the dead body of a junior high school student was found at the same place, Daiki is brought in by the police as a suspect in a serial murder case. His sister Mio, who works at a club in Yanagase, saves him from this predicament. The two sisters always quarrel whenever they meet, but in order to prove their brother's innocence, they pursue the real culprit in the case.

Shinichi and Chikako Ohara have been married for 50 years. After Shinichi retired from his job, he has stayed at home, which Chikako stresses over. They are on the verge of having a divorce. Meanwihle, their daughter, Aya runs a food truck. She meets Ryota Kanno who is her customer. Ryota recently began working as a funeral undertaker and invites Aya to attend the Oshukatsu Fair. Aya also recommends to her mother Chikako to attend the Oshukatsu Fair. Chikako gets the latest information on preparing for death at the fair, but Shinichi doesn't like that. Their relationship gets even worse.

The "me" in the title, I am a high school music club member. My part is the contrabass. Like the deep billow of my instrument, the depression peculiar to adolescence swells within me low and thick, coiling around my body each and every day. The only light is you, a member of the same music club. Your part is the mandolin. As you lead the quintet with your soaring timbre, your presence sublimates the swelling within my adolescent heart.
