In the Himalayan foothills town of Darjeeling, India, a devout Tibetan Buddhist monk named Tashi is sent to Japan to continue his spiritual training. There, he meets a cantankerous elderly man and his parolee granddaughter, Emi. As Tashi grows closer to them, the distance between the lonely Emi and Tashi begins to shrink, and forbidden feelings start to emerge between them.

The story revolves around Rei ( Rina Takeda ), a watch repair woman who lives a quiet life in a small seaside town. However, she is actually a skilled and lethal assassin who carries out jobs for the local bar owner ( Kyusaku Shimada ), moving like a shadow and eliminating criminal agitators from various organizations. One day, a man ( Leiya Seguchi ) arrives in the village, and Rei finds herself drawn to him. It was a fated encounter, one that will seal their fate and condemn them to a situation where only one will remain standing.

After becoming a major star in Hong Kong during the Golden Age of kung fu films - appearing alongside such icons as Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, Jet Li and Donnie Yen - Kurata now marks both the 60th anniversary of his acting career and his 80th birthday with an ambitious and deeply personal new project, "The Living Dragon." Structured as an anthology of three interconnected stories, the film brings together leading action directors Koichi Sakamoto, Kenji Tanigaki and Yuji Shimomura - all former members of the Kurata Action Club, who went on to earn their own fame in Japan and abroad. Moving between realism, fantasy and memory, the stories they've written for their sifu revolve around aging, unrealized dreams and the enduring spirit of those who continue to devote themselves to cinema.

Set in war-torn 15th century Kyoto, on the eve of the Onin War, the movie centers on a band of outlaws led by Hyoe, a scoundrel whose lethal sword skills place him at the tip of the spear in a deadly uprising against the corrupt Shogunate and its army, led by former friend-turned-archrival Doken.

The two of them get into a tuk-tuk, a three-wheeled cab known in Thailand, and embark on a journey to finish what they both want to finish. The two gradually become attracted to each other, but at the same time, their hidden pasts are revealed.
