Inside Bar Sport, a bar on the outskirts of Bologna managed by the histrionic Onassis, the adventures of regulars and casual patrons unfold. Searching for a pinball machine or a payphone, they encounter the omnipresent "technician," so called for his passion for soccer and always ready to chat or moderate other people's discussions. Thus, the ordeals of the handyman Bovinelli as he deals with the disasters at Muzzi's house, the diary of a provincial playboy's conquests, the sex life of the fiery prostitute Elvira, the search for a good restaurant during a dazed motorcycle trip with Cocosecco, or a trip to see Bologna play with the lawyer Della Lana become epic tales of tragicomic exploits.

Father Arturo is a suburban parish priest, full of goodwill despite the absenteeism of his parishioners and the "harassment" from his bishop. One day, Francesco, the son he secretly had twenty years earlier, shows up at the church. His girlfriend, Matilda, is pregnant—Father Arturo is about to become a grandfather! The next day, Francesco disappears, and the priest and the girl set out to find him.

An Italian troupe is busy in Paris filming an adaptation of La Traviata. The dressmaker Rosa, in love with the lead actor, identifies herself with Violetta: thanks to a bad joke and a fake séance, Rosa begins to believe she is her reincarnation. From that moment on, she tries to discover everything she can about her previous life, which slowly becomes closer and closer to her real one.
