When Chili Ncgobo, an honest but ambitious undercover cop, is cheated out of a major reward by his corrupt superiors, he infiltrates a cash-in-transit heist gang, and instead of busting them, he decides to participate in a one off score. He must face off against his partner who refuses to let him do it and one of the gang members who recognizes him as a cop.

This South African movie tracks the rise of a once-petty criminal to the heights of the criminal underworld. After cutting his teeth on hijacking, before moving onto bigger game, an ambitious man hits a setback when most of his gang are shot.

With his side bleeding, a man called Shadow limps through a black and white landscape of burned out buildings, funeral processions, and memories that are in color. He wants to bathe, to clean his wound, but he finds no one willing to let him use their water. The residents of the township capture a young man accused of rape. The two men’s paths cross and Shadow’s place in society is revealed. Will the blood wash off?
