The 90s only keep getting worse for Volk and Zayats.

It's 1993 and the Soviet Union has collappsed two years ago. This new social reality brings unexpected changes to the lives of even Volk and Zayats.

In 1953, the year Stalin died, many prisoners (some political, but mostly common criminals) were released from the Soviet Gulags. This is the story of a remote settlement which was under attack by a bunch of these recently-released blood-thirsty thugs in the summer of 1953, and the townspeople, along with a two political prisoners, who try to stop them.

The action takes place in the family of an industrious and responsible worker, Sudakov. He is smart, practical, knows how to maintain useful connections, and, of course, is confident in the well-being of his family. However, it turns out that not everything is well in the "capercaillie’s nest"…

After suffering a sunstroke Volk finds himfself in a world of fairytales.

Boy Borya reads a book about pirates instead of doing homework. He tears off the handkerchief from the parrot's cage, flaps it and exclaims: "I would like to be on an uninhabited island!" The mirror on the wall grows and opens directly to a tropical island, Borya's desire is fulfilled. Her next desire is to marry a "creative, intelligent" person. After a lengthy search, she chose an elderly, but well-mannered, intelligent official Vladimir Dmitrievich Lobanov. Svetlana believes that with the help of connections and sober calculation, you can achieve everything: well-being, respectability, even personal happiness. She does not notice that the fulfillment of her desires does not at all make the person close to her happy. The payback turns out to be unexpected and terrible.
