Chico Buarque is a constant presence in Brazil's art scene and makes up its citizen's popular culture. This wealth in music, poems, theater and novels has been created over the last 50 years and in this film Chico Buarque converses about his memories, shows, daily life, work methods, creative process, in summary all his trajectory. The musician’s search for his German brother, whom he never got to meet, serves as one of the axis for the narrative.

The best way to discover a city is through its people. 'Show Me Lisbon' reveals the city as seen by thirteen locals, or lisboetas - who were either born there or moved there by choice and who are of different generations, areas and backgrounds. The result is a dynamic, relaxed and realistic portrait of Lisbon that looks at themes such as what it means "to be a lisboeta", the light, the river, the food, the sounds, the history, the ethnic mixes, fado and the city's facades. The artist Joana Vasconcelos, the musician Rodrigo Leao, the writer Richard Zenith, the fado singer Carminho, the street artist Vhils and the historian Jose Sarmento Matos, alongside the knife sharpeners, fishwives, old ladies of Alfama and the festival singers who show the city as it is lived in its traditional quarters. Show me Lisbon is the follow-up to Show me Rio and the second film in the Show me Cities series.

A documentary project that aims to capture the uncapturable. Explain what cannot be explained. How does one decipher fado? How is it conceived? They say one is born a fado singer, but how do you define what one feels? Does it emanate from within? Many Eastern masters believe that knowledge can only be gained in person. Could it be that through technology we can capture the timeless presence of a master and feel their knowledge? This is a documentary that tries to explain what fado is, to those who know it and those who don't, from the inner point of view of the 'maker' of fado. From the composer to the guitarist, including those who sing it and those who study it. And so, through these testimonies, we can explain the invisible. The inner side of Fado.
