A young priest is sent to a desolate town near the border of the Dominican Republic and Haiti. There he meets a young prostitute, thus unleashing a series of events and conflicts after discovering a network of human trafficking.

Based on a real story, this Dominican drama is an intriguing account of the murder of Amin Abel Hasbun, a brilliant student leader in the Dominican Republic accused of kidnapping US Embassy official, J. Crowley. Hasbun was one of many young leftists fighting against the government of Dr. Joaquin Balaguer, who favored a repressive regime.

Bruno's life starts darkening when he is informed in the university he works that the scholarship programs have been suspended. Daily, he faces the lack of discipline and respect of his students, mainly from Rogelio, the son of a rich family. With the help of his godparent, he takes a second job as the driver of a values transport company.

The story of the gruesome death of 12-year old José Rafael Llenas Aybar, who was stabbed to death by his own cousin in May 1996.

Urania Cabral returns to Santo Domingo, after several years, and remembers her and her family's relationship to Rafael Trujillo, the Dominican dictator, as well as the events surrounding his assassination.
