Kaneko, imprisoned for violence, was a man who would get angry even at his wife if she came to visit. It was the power of family - his wife, child, and uncle - that led this good-for-nothing to start a new life. Kaneko now runs a commissary that provides items to people imprisoned like he once was and visits them on behalf of their families. However, the peace is shattered when a young girl, his son’s friend, is found dead.

The story centers on the melody played by the protagonist (Yoh). When his voice transcends time and space to reach Meguriboshi (another planet far away from Earth), many mysteries that were not told in the original story are revealed.

39-year-old Meiko Amabuki (Nanako Matsushima) works as an attorney. She is married to Goro Aizawa, but they are separated. They have one daughter. Meiko Amabuki decides to file for divorce. They battle over custody of their daughter. One day, Meiko Amabuki's daughter is kidnapped. The kidnapper demands that a suspect in a murder case Eiji Kunimitsu receive a not guilty judgement. Meiko Amabuki only has 7 days before that trial ends.

Hajime Onuki (Ryuhei Maruyama) was a thief, but he now works as a welder and lives happily with his girlfriend. Hajime Onuki is threatened by a former partner in crime. He forces Hajime Onuki to break into the mansion of a picture book writer to steal. He is caught by others while in the act, but they keep mistaking him for someone else.
