In May 1941, a young instructor of the Komsomol Regional Committee of Belovezhskaya Pushcha Andrei Dyomushkin was invited to the graduation party of the Moscow Theatre School to create a professional theatre in the city. The war has crossed out all plans. Now he, along with the course of graduates, will have to go through the war and be the commander of the front acting fraternity in the current army "A Special Unit"...

At the site where Mikhail Sveshnev was working, the roof collapsed, crushing one of the miners. At the risk of his life, Mikhail saved his comrade, but the foreman lied to Sveshnev and blamed him for the accident. The commission identified the true culprits of the accident, but Mikhail, feeling alienated by the team, left for home. A magical tale about a poor musician who one day stumbled upon a wondrous market stall. The old man gave the poor young musician the flute and the magic mirror, on one condition: they had to be returned in a year. A greedy rich man also took a liking to these magical things and, through deceit and trickery, tried to steal them — even throwing the musician into a dungeon. But what the greedy man didn’t know was that clever, enchanted things only bring happiness to a kind heart — and no wisdom at all to a foolish one.

The movie takes place at the construction of a tunnel in the Arctic Circle. A young engineer Andrei Arefyev is appointed head of the site. Between him and Nikolai Krumov, head of the neighboring site, there is a serious conflict. And it's not only about different professional approaches to construction methods in harsh conditions: Arefyev's favorite girl Svetlana, without any agony, preferred Krumov to him.
