Against a backdrop of music hall and comedy acts, a Pigalle cabaret is famous for the activities of real and fake maharajas. One of them buys the cabaret and turns the checkroom attendant Annie into a real star. The maharajah then takes her to his kingdom, returning the place to its original manager.

Daniel Bellanger, a night-club crooner, is a basically straight,honest man. He has just married Christiane, a cashier in a Montmartre hotel and his main objective in life is to live happily with his wife and Pierrot, the son she had of a former union. Unfortunately Daniel accepts the offer of his old friend Freddy to run a gambling den. The place is frequented by a host of dubious guys, among whom a hood named Mario. The latter finds Christiane to his liking and soon shows he is prepared to do anything to take her away from Daniel, including kidnapping little Pierrot.

Lyane is a singer and daughter of the producer of the operetta: "C'est une fille de Paris". She convinces the composer of the music, Jacques Kellermann, whom she loves, to sign her piece. The famous composer Jean Paget, who cannot put the work to his advantage, declares to Jacques that Lyane had a child by him. Shocked, Jacques breaks with the singer who soon knows the celebrity. Finally, he realizes that happiness is ready to be seized, because the beauty still loves him...

Sénéchal, an actor touring the provinces with the "Tournées Carlini" does not meet the success he thinks he deserves. One night in Dreux, he finds himself without his luggage and dressed up as a Foreign Legion officer, he is invited to a party thrown by a colonel. He creates a sensation there and does not leave the colonel's wife ... indifferent! Back in Paris, Sénéchal goes through a similar experience. This time around, wearing tuxedo and top hat, he gets mistaken for a diplomat and charms the guests of a wedding party. Arrested by the police, he chooses to do without an attorney at his trial and his brilliant eloquence has him acquitted. A question remains unanswered though : will all those people who give an ovation in real life ever go to see him on stage ?

Arlette thinks she has made a wonderful gift to her daughter Sylvie, who has just married François Morel, a young journalist. The trouble is that Monsieur Jo, the former owner of the joint is also the boss of a gang of drug traffickers. During a lesson, he is disturbed by the ravishing and capricious Lolita Perez, the wealthy daughter of a South American who, despite her father's opposition, wants to marry a seductive adventurer, Marcel d'Arcy, who covets her fortune. At his instigation, she plans to marry Raoul - a sham marriage - in order to gain possession of his fortune. She divorces him and remarries Marcel. But Lolita falls in love with Raoul, who has been warned of her machinations and refuses the marriage...

Charming, charming but unstable, Rudy is married to Lydia. He dreams of becoming a famous painter. Under the name of his friend Ravot, Rudy is hired to teach gymnastics at a girls' college. Things soon get complicated. The jealous Lydia, who plays student, keeps an eye on her husband. The headmistress glares at him, and the arrival of the real Mme Ravot doesn't help matters. The contract is almost not honored, but as in the best comedies, everything works out.

But at the same time, a cardinal arrives, and the truth must be kept from him. Nénette passes for Hubert's wife, and the cardinal spends his time reconciling the pseudo-spouses. After many misunderstandings, Hubert and Nénette discover that they love each other, while Jules marries the pretty soubrette, not without first inoculating Hubert's virtuous aunt with his taste for racing.

Madeleine Lebeau, a woman who charges for her easy virtue, has a plan that has some of her customers paying more than others; she tells them she is pregnant and, to avoid complications, the men pay her money and don't hang around for the birth. Yves Furet, a shiftless gambler, who not only encourages her in her business ventures but is also her fiancée, shares the fruit of her non-labor. She latches onto a wealthy widower, Henri Vilbert, who throws her a curve-ball when, after she tells him she is pregnant, he is overjoyed as he has fallen in love with her and is looking forward to becoming a father. She plays along for a while, but becomes ashamed when she sees how Vilbert is devoting his whole life to a child that she isn't carrying. She fakes a miscarriage and his kindness makes her feel guilty and she confesses, but he doesn't believe her. So she tries another plan.
