Anne Grainauer, a celebrated foreign correspondent, suddenly finds herself without a job after 24 years. The charming Gregor König offers some consolation. Anne finds out that Gregor is not only the mayor of Dresden, but also the favorite enemy of her daughter Jess, who is leading a citizens' initiative against the airport expansion. Gregor persistently courts Anne's heart. And she has to make a decision.

Anna is a surgeon and, like her husband Gunnar, works at the hospital in a small town in the Mecklenburg Lake District. They have built a good life here with their son. Anna is torn out of her usual routine when a child suddenly suffers an allergic shock after a routine operation, which was triggered by an antibiotic that Anna had not been given. A medical mystery for Anna until she finds out that the clinic has a massive hygiene problem. The more unpleasant truths Anna uncovers, the more hostile she becomes. Anna is faced with decisions of conscience that could bring down everything she has built up so far.

Conny Stein from the ordnance disposal service in Dresden has to defuse a bomb on his last day of work before retirement, on a construction site in a power plant. In the process, he discovers a girl who had previously come to the city in a minibus full of refugees and does not speak a word.

Despite being 45, Werner still likes putting on the style and enjoys being a womanizer, who usually ends up in bed with the female guests that stay at the hostel in which he temporarily works. But Werner has discovered that this new "job" is a real godsend, as when he takes his granddaughter to the playground, he is a great hit with the ladies. He especially likes Kathie, who comes there with her little son Finn. Of course, he can't let her know that he is a granddad and so he says that he is Zora's father… and to Julia's surprise - but also joy - he wants to babysit Zora as often as possible.

Fun-loving Miri is a genius with numbers. She puts this talent to good use in her job at the town bank in the small village of Hattenstein, where she actively helps her often overburdened boss. When a local winegrower is found dead in a wooded area, she also develops a penchant for detective work. The policeman Nils, one of her old schoolmates, believes it was a sudden heart attack. But Miri's extraordinary powers of deduction tell her that there is something fishy about the case. With the moral support of her ownerless dachshund, Frauchen, she uncovers a large-scale crime in which even the mayor of the town seems to be involved.

Just returned from a business trip to the Middle East, Juliane is questioned after her arrest by the commissioners Theissen and Hindrichs: They should have rented apartments and cars that should serve to prepare a terrorist attack. The evidence is overwhelming. Has anyone gained access to the businesswoman's computer, stolen her virtual identity and used it for criminal purposes?

Pia and Sebastian want to get married and this wedding is to be recorded for posterity by Sebastian's best friend Daniel. However, Daniel takes his job a bit too seriously.

David, a waiter, finds an unpublished manuscript in a dresser drawer. To impress a girl, he claims to be the author. When the novel becomes a best-seller, the real author introduces himself and begins to take over David's life.
