The film is based on an incredible true story about a village woman who gets lost at a railway station and waits fourteen years for her husband to come.

Born on the street, without any knowledge of his parents, Shankar (Jackie Shroff) lives his life as an urchin, on petty thievery and con games. He is o known to the police because of his petty crimes. Rich and beautiful Natasha (Richa Sharma), niece of a well-known Member of Parliament, Dharamdas (Amrish Puri)falls for him, but Shankar heart is with another (Padmini Kolhapure). Shankar comes to know that his father is alive, he soon meets up with him, and with the help of Natasha, comes across a closely guarded conspiracy involving people he has known for a long time.

Dinesh and Maneesha fall in love and, soon after, get married. However, things get complicated for the newly-wed couple as Poonam, Dinesh's colleague files an attempted rape case against him.

Kanpur-based, pregnant Geeta Bhargav lives a wealthy lifestyle with her husband, Balwant, and three children: Shrikant, Arun and Usha. Her alcoholic and womanizing husband is arrested for killing a bodyguard of a Courtesan and is sentenced to 20 years in prison. She is then accused of luring men into her house and is asked to move on. Homeless, on the verge of starvation, she is unable to feed her family, and Usha passes away. She decides to become a widow, gets shelter, a job, and has Shrikant enrolled in a hostel. Then her luck changes when she is adopted by wealthy J.S. Archarya, and gives birth to Kirti. She explains her situation to Archarya, who wills her his entire estate and subsequently passes away.

Framed for a crime he didn't commit, Mohan Kumar loses his wife, son and freedom, then he emerges from prison, vowing revenge.

Rahul, the son-in-law of an old industrialist and one of the heirs to his fortune, clashes with Dinesh, the industrialist’s nephew who is openly unscrupulous. Rahul, on his part, conceals his personal ambition under a cloak of liberalism and encourages indigenous production.

Advocate Gautam Mehra lives in Bombay with his wife, Anju, and a daughter, Rakhsa. One day while returning from court he sees a woman being molested. He stops, phones the police, and then tries to stop the molester, in vain, though as he gets attacked and loses consciousness. But the police do arrive and arrest the molester. Raghuvir's attempts to convince Gautam to change his testimony are in vain. Gautam goes on to testify against Raghuvir Singh, and gets him sentenced to seven years rigorous prison.

A head injury causes a woman to regress to childhood. Lost and confused, she is eventually befriended by a school teacher. A Hindi remake of the 1982 film "Moondram Pirai" by the same team.

Maya, coming from poor family, is married to the affluent Dr. Anand; but she tries to commit suicide on the nuptial night. She tells Anand that she was in love with Prem whose ambition was to be a music director. He too was in love with her but thought she would not be happy as his wife. Anand tells Maya that he had married her only for his mother who was on her death bed. When the mother dies Anand wants to unite Prem and Maya but Prem says it is against Hindu culture and disappears from their life.

'Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyun Ata Hai' revolves around the Pintos and the people connected to them. There's Albert who's pretty much angry at everybody. His brother Dominic who thinks it's better to be jobless than to work an underpaid job, his patient sister Joan who works at a sari shop, his independent girlfriend Stella who feels under-appreciated by her boyfriend, his father and his colleagues, client and Stella's family. The film is very much a social commentary about Middle-class life in Bombay during the late ’70s and the conflicts arising in the labour force because workers were getting severely underpaid.
