In any case, Valentin only saw himself as a folk singer, but he also produced Dadaist works of art and wrote futuristic songs. Today, he has a reputation as a comedian who has somewhat fallen out of time. In this film essay, Andreas Ammers asks contemporary comedians such as Luise Kinseher, Willy Astor, Helmut Schleich and Christian Springer about their relationship to their great ancestor. A bumbling sound effects technician ruins a radio broadcast.

Relations between Huckebein, a humble tailor, and Greizinger, a wealthy farmer, become strained after Greizinger breaks off the romance between his son, Franzl, and Huckenbein's daughter, Evi. However, after a situation with a 100 mark note taken from a pair of trousers pressed by Huckebein belonging to Greisinger is resolved, a valuable mineral spring is found on the tailor's property,and the warring fathers become friends and Evi and Franzl are married.

Postman Meier tells neurologist Professor Dr. Feurich about his problems with the angry master baker Fröhlich. In a flashback, we see how Meier first asks the baker to bake a pretzel in the shape of a 20-centimeter-high B covered in icing. Fröhlich presents him with a Latin B, but Meier is not satisfied because he wants one in German script. When the master baker then hands him a B in Sütterlin script, Meier demands a small b from him that is identical in both fonts. When the b finally turns out satisfactory, Meier eats it immediately.
