Akira works as a lawyer. One day, he meets with his former client Rie, who asks Akira to perform a background check on her late husband Daisuke.

Six unknown people move to the declining seaport city of Uobuka. Unremarkable city official, Tsukisue, is appointed to welcome them, but finds out the shocking truth that all of them are former murder suspects. Before long, an uneasiness begins to creep over the quiet city.

Yamatatsu group leader Tatsuo Yamanaka (Hakuryu), who has become acting group leader, recommends Tamba group leader Kazuhisa Takemoto (Hitoshi Ozawa) to Kashira. However, Sumiko, the sister of the third generation Yamadai, who actually runs the Tanba-gumi, mentions that Takemoto is the man who will inherit the fourth generation of the Tanba-gumi. Eventually, the Takemoto faction and Yamanakaha became enemies, and the huge organization split into two. This spurs the assassination of the boss...

Woodwork artist Takumi moves to the small village Asuka in Nara Prefecture. He remodels old homes and lives a peaceful existence with nature. Takumi then meets Kayoko, a woman who went to the same school as Takumi. Kayoko is fascinated with the color crimson. She dyes scarves with the color of hanezu. Kayoko lives with boyfriend Tetsuya, who works as an editor of a PR magazine. They live together. Soon, Kayoko falls in love with Takumi.

Fifty elderly women are abandoned to die on a snow covered mountain, but instead wor together to build their own village named "Dendera." Some of the women wants to live their remaining days in peace, but others seek revenge against the villagers and their own families who left them to die.

Hiroko is a young, alienated woman "in love" with a blow-up male torso. Tension rises when her sister discovers her secret desire.

In a quiet farming village in northeastern Japan, there lives an elderly couple. One day, a notice arrives in the mail about an antique camera sale in Tokyo. This triggers the old man's memory of the time when he used to love cameras and he decides he wants to go to Tokyo. Going on this shopping trip is like embarking on an adventure for them and is is full of surprises and unexpected happenings, but through this adventure, the old couple's lives slowly get revealed. Before heading home, the couple stops by Tokyo Station, a place that holds fond memories for them. They take a photo together with the old man's camera and quietly reflect back on the long life that they spent together.
