Paris, 13th District

When Singapore surrendered to the Japanese in 1942, the Allied POWs, mostly British but including a few Americans, were incarcerated in Changi prison. Among the American prisoners is Cpl. King, a wheeler-dealer who has managed to establish a pretty good life for himself in the camp. King soon forms a friendship with an upper-class British officer who is fascinated with King's enthusiastic approach to life.

An intense and imaginative artist, revered Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh possesses undeniable talent, but he is plagued by mental problems and frustrations with failure. Supported by his brother, Theo, the tormented Van Gogh eventually leaves Holland for France, where he meets volatile fellow painter Paul Gauguin and struggles to find greater inspiration.

In the last few days of the Warsaw Uprising during World War II, a modest group of Resistance members remains. The band must take refuge in the sewers under the orders of leader Zadra, but it's only a matter of time before they will have to emerge. However, when they try, they are met only with intense hostility from the Nazis. Despite their attempts stay resolute through immense mental strain, it becomes increasingly apparent that they may be doomed.

In 1965, an Indian family, whose men have been loyal servants of the British Royal Air Force, are faced with a life-changing offer of British citizenship as a reward for their years of service. The anglophone father is determined to follow his colonial masters back to England, while his newly-wed son yearns to build a new life in Singapore with his pregnant wife. Their conflict studies the notion of state and identity in a time of post-independence uncertainty.

A heartbreaking story about the tragic love between a young soloist named Andrey Dymov and an equally young, but more experienced "Priestess of Love" named Masha.
