Lawrence Salva's script centers on a detective on the trail of a murderer, who is led to believe that a local teenager, harboring some sort of strange supernatural power, may be involved. Slater plays a man of the cloth who aids the cop on his mission.

This is the story of an isolated Alaskan town that is plunged into darkness for a month each year when the sun sinks below the horizon. Rico's military career progresses from recruit to non-commissioned officer and finally to officer against the backdrop of an interstellar war between mankind and an arachnoid species known as "the Bugs."
