When Lisa's younger sister suddenly disappears without a trace, she returns to her home village to search for the missing girl on her own. But before she can follow up a real lead, a dead girl is found by the river.

A snowed-in holiday hotel. A dead body in a room locked from the inside. The hotel manager wants to cover it up, but in the blink of an eye the whole hotel knows about it. Among the guests is an inspector - or at least he convincingly claims to be - who, together with his assistant who has travelled with him, undertakes extensive investigations. Then even a second murder takes place!

A single long-range shot shatters the quiet of a country morning, leaving a beloved doctor dead on the steps of his family home. In the aftermath, a grieving widow and her withdrawn son cling desperately to the safety of routine. Meanwhile, a weary detective – mid-divorce and living out of a suitcase – is called to investigate, joined by a young colleague still reeling from a recent trauma.
